AXON introduces 30 NEW Synapse modules at NAB2009April 2nd, 2009

NAB2009 marks the introduction of 30 new modules for 11 different applications for Synapse, AXON’s modular infrastructure system. Almost all of these modules have upgrading capabilities; you either buy them for handling SD-only, handling HD & SD or handling 3Gbs & HD & SD. The SD and HD/SD variants can be upgraded to handle 3Gb/s-signals making them the ideal solution for broadcast facilities which want to be prepared for 1080P without making the relevant investment yet.

The new modules consist of 3Gb/s-capable keyers, frame synchronizers, dual channel upconverters and dual channel cross converters.

Furthermore Synapse is enhanced with a 3GB/s-capable legalizer (HDL100). It legalizes a 3Gbs, HD stream in the RGB domain within 709 color space. It also provides a legal SD output simultaneously within 601 color space.

The GVD090 is Synapse’s monitoring distribution amplifier with down converted SD or analog video and AES outputs. This low cost unit is designed for generic 3Gb/s, HD or SD-SDI distribution with preview output.

The cooperation between AXON and Linear Acoustic has resulted in the introduction of the DLA44, a module to solve the loudness issue many broadcasters are facing.

As a technology showcase AXON will present 2 new fiber modules which are an addition to the existing fiber modules within the system.
